In order to contribute to the development of young talents who will shape the National Technology Move in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Hasan Kalyoncu University’s (HKU) Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences and Faculty of Engineering organized a seminar titled “Technology and Competitive Advantage: Strategies for Future Professions” aimed at evaluating future professions and technological developments to enhance students’ knowledge levels. The seminar, held in the Law Amphitheater with a significant turnout, was conducted in collaboration with HAVELSAN, a leading company in the defense industry.

Dr. Erol Yücel, Strategy Team Manager at HAVELSAN, was the keynote speaker at the seminar, which was attended by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Hanifi Çanakçı, Dean of the Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences Prof. Dr. Fatih Hasoğlu, faculty members, and students.

Highlighting the necessity of being prepared for the future and achieving competitive advantage through technology in today’s business world, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli stated, “As Hasan Kalyoncu University, we are working tirelessly to train and contribute talented, entrepreneurial, and innovative experts who can shape the future and strengthen our country in every field. We encourage research and innovation and equip our students with the necessary competencies in their fields. In this process, we strive to integrate with relevant sectors beyond collaboration. The ‘Industry on Campus’ program is one of the best examples of this. Today, we are together with HAVELSAN within the scope of the program. We thank them for their support and participation.”

Starting his speech by providing information about HAVELSAN and the ‘Industry on Campus’ program, HAVELSAN Strategy Team Manager Dr. Erol Yücel emphasized, “Technology is advancing rapidly, but the priority always lies in qualified human resources. Qualified individuals develop technology to gain a competitive advantage. It is important for you to use technology in a way that enhances your own competitive edge. You need to continuously develop yourselves. The most important task to achieve competitive advantage is to develop meaningful differences and deliver them rapidly.” He provided students with information on the importance of technology and competitive advantage, how future professions could shape up, and possible strategies aligned with that.

As part of the “HAVELSAN on Campus” program, mentorship groups on “Strategic Identity: Individual Transformation for Future Leaders” met with students on March 21-22, 2024, at the HKU campus.
